Training
Melbourne conducts on-site design seminars. Over the years, literally hundreds of these seminars have been held all over the world. The seminars are casual, highly interactive and are of great value to designers, engineers and test technicians. The amount of time that is devoted to each topic can be tailored to meet your needs.
Those topics include:
- Overview of Pumps and Pumping Systems
- Pumping Elements (Gear, Rotor, Vane, Roller Cell and Axial Piston)
- Types of Pumps (Fixed-Displacement and Variable-Displacement)
- The Relationships of Flow, Resistance and Pressure
- Lubrication, Lubricity and Viscosity
- The Vapor Pressure of a Liquid
- Aeration (Causes and Prevention)
- Cavitation (Causes and Prevention)
- Types of Systems (Wet-sump, Dry-sump, Semi-dry-sump, Scavenge, Transfer and Power Hydraulics)
- Establishing the Theoretical Displacement of a Pump
- Volumetric, Mechanical and Overall Efficiencies
- Selecting the Location for a Pump
- The Inlet Circuit
- The Differences Between Pressure Regulation and Pressure Relief
- The Pressure Regulating Circuit
- Methods of Driving Pumps (Mechanical and Electrical)
- Testing and the Analysis of Test data
A typical seminar lasts one day. The morning is spent discussing the various topics that appear in the preceding list. The afternoon is spent applying what has been learned to real-life projects. Participants are encouraged to bring information concerning applications, be they old or new, as well as hardware. In fact, quite a few seminars include a segment of time that is dedicated to forensics and benchmarking.
